Definition
This disease causes abnormal deposition and resorption of bone.
Epidemiology
-Whites and affected more than blacks.
-Most common in older adults (more than 40 years of age).
Clinical Features
-Most cases of Pagets Disease are polyostotic.
– In extreme cases: “lion-like” face deformity (Leontiasis Ossea)
Radiographic Appearance
-Early stage: Osteoporosis Circumscripta.
-Late stage: Cotton-wool appearance.
Histology
In sclerotic (late stage): Jigsaw or mosaic appearance of bone.
