Episode 2:
"Three times revised, thrice as well remembered".
I know that I will forget it if I didn’t revise it again.
I know that I will forget it if I didn’t revise it again.
I’ve found that the best way to retain, and better understand any piece of information is by revising it once, twice, and thrice.
This is especially true for any subject that mostly requires memorizing rather than understanding.
#Better memorization, and better understanding.
From my experience, if I study a chapter once, no matter how well I studied it or how many times I went through a paragraph, I know that I will forget it if I didn’t revise it again.
I also know that even if it is a concept that I need to understand and not memorize, there are always details that I wouldn’t be aware of if I only studied once.
# Read, read references, google, and write notes.
Say you had a lecture today, go home and read it, read the references, use google, and make sure to write notes or hints in your own way because trust me you will forget what XYZ meant in a one month’s time. Make sure there’s nothing left that you don’t understand.
#Make a schedule with the 3rd revision in mind:
Once you know when are your exams, make a schedule for studying the material (this will be your 2nd revision), and leave enough room from revising for the 3rd time.
So what I would do is divide and manage my time so that I always have more than enough time to revise.
That means that I would drop rereading over and over again so that I can finish the material on time and start revising instead.
Hope you found these tips helpful!
